Satsang Foundation New Zealand

Two day non-residential retreat run by The Satsang Foundation New Zealand in Kawai Purapura Retreat Centre in Albany, Auckland. This is a unique opportunity to spend time in a serene setting with a small group of people. The retreat will be limited to 50 people (16 years or older) on a first come first serve basis. Please note that there will be no kriya initiation. Retreat covers postures (Asanas), Breathing Techniques (Pranayama), Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara), Trataka (Eye Exercises) and Meditation techniques (OM and Cyclic). Detailed agenda will be sent to registered participants.

May 29th – 9:00 – 10:15 a.m. – Inauguration & Online Satsang with Sri M

June 8 – 9:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. – Yoga practices and pre-recorded Ishavasya Upanishad discourses of Sri M

June 9 – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Yoga practices and pre-recorded Ishavasya Upanishad discourses of Sri M

Highlights of the retreat

  1. Introduction to Yoga and Science of Yoga – Glimpses from Patanjali Yoga Sutras and Yoga Vasista, Mindfulness, using the regulation of Mind, body and breath.
  2. Asanas/Postures – Using Patanjalai Yoga Sutra techniques to perform the postures, 18-20 postures covered – helps with flexibility, body stiffness, techniques for weight loss, asthma and Diabetes prevention & control.
  3. Sri M’s pre-recorded discourses on IshaVashya Upanishad followed by discussions
  4. Surya Namaskara/Sun Salutations – Series of postures done in a continuous manner one posture melding into the next (12 positions), along with Bija mantras (seed sounds) to stimulate the different organs along with chakra awareness to stimulate the energy centers.
  5. Pranayama/Breathing techniques – Practices based on Patanjali Yoga Sutras for general wellbeing, fitness and concentration.
  6. Meditation technique – Explanation of meditation as per Patanjali Yoga sutras and practice of OM Meditation (covering the significance of this meditation with relevant background from Mandukya Upanishad and Patanjali Yoga Sutras.
  7. Cyclic Meditation – A beautiful series of postures done slowly along with relaxation to reduce stress and increase productivity, this practice has been taught Fortune 500 companies across the globe.
  8. Trataka and Candle Meditation – Eye exercises to improve eyesight and concentration/Meditation technique using the candle to focus and defocus.
